Latest News and EventsEarlier this summer, I presented a proposal to integrate the Town of Ossining Police Department with ours. Please take time to read the proposal at http://www.villageofossining.org/Documents/Police_Proposal_for_Town.pdf and, while you are there, look at all the rest of the Village website and subscribe to the EBlast. In July, PMT Production's Adventure Theatre presented two performances of Alice in Wonderland in Engel Park and two performances at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center. I was delighted to be able to introduce each of the shows, bringing live theatre back to Ossining. I knew, when I befriended producers Ossining residents Carol and Ray Arrucci, that they were the ideal people to accomplish that goal. There were also two performances for Ossining Campers in the week between. Then, a week later, through the good offices of another friend and Ossining resident, K.J. Denhert and the Ossining Recreation Department, Momentum Theatre Troupe presents Shakespeare's A Tempest on a truck that transforms a one-of-a-kind converted truck that opened into a multi-level jungle gym of a stage. On the playbill with Shakespeare's story of monsters and magic, revenge and redemption, power and love, were two short plays: Eugene Ionesco's absurdist comedy The Leader, and an adaptation of the surreal nightmare-scape of Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky. The show was terrific! With the sun setting, at times silhouetting the actors, Engel once again presented an appropriately enchanting setting. In case you missed them, the following links lead to articles in the New York Times and the Journal News meant to generate buzz for the new season of Mad Men, but also providing prime time and very positive exposure for the Village. Also in July, I cut the ribbon for the opening of Mike Risko’s Music School on Croton Avenue. More Arts in Ossining! |
